Press release Launch of the Dutch Design WorkSpace

The Dutch Design WorkSpace will be launched during the Shanghai International Creative Industry Week (SICIW). Dutch Design Fashion Architecture (DutchDFA) has initiated this three-year support programme, in close collaboration with the Jing’an District, the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Shanghai Creative Industry Centre, FAR Architecture & Design Centre and local partners. The programme will start immediately after the conclusion of the SICIW and will be officially opened in January 2010. The Dutch Design WorkSpace will be established in Shanghai.Dutch companies working within the fields of design, fashion and architecture will be offered support through this incubator programme. Special assistance will be given to designers who aim to enter the Chinese market: the programme will accompany them in their first steps in this new and challenging environment. The programme will also support Chinese designers who are interested in developing a closer relationship with the Netherlands. The official signing ceremony between the Chinese and Dutch partners will take place on Saturday 17 October, between 17.00 and 18.00 at 800Show, Dutch Design Works pavilion (building 4), no. 800 Changde Lu, Jian’an District, Shanghai. DutchDFA The DutchDFA Programme runs from 2009 through 2012, and aims to strengthen the international position of the three Dutch creative disciplines Design Fashion and Architecture on a long-term basis by joining forces within the field. DutchDFA is a unique collaboration between public and private partners, drawing together representatives of the Dutch Ministries of Economic Affairs, of Education, Culture & Science and of Foreign Affairs, sector-specific organisations such as Premsela and the Netherlands Architecture Institute, and professional branche associations as well as the Dutch creative hubs of Amsterdam, Arnhem, Eindhoven, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.
